Jan Hales Strickland discovered her passion for Interior Design at a young age. As a child, Jan would travel abroad with her family and was constantly amazed by the beauty of the castles, homes, and museums in several different countries around the world.
Jan grew up in a small town in Northeast Louisiana called Rayville. Throughout high school she worked on various condo projects, a movie room addition, and a law office lobby. After graduating from Riverfield Academy in Rayville, LA in 2006 she went on to attend The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
Jan graduated from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 2010 with a degree in Interior Design from the CIDA (Council for Interior Design Accreditation) program. While in college, she interned at design firms in Tuscaloosa and Foley, AL.
After graduating from college Jan became Allied ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) and founded Jan Hales Designs, LLC. She worked at a high end Kitchen Design Center in Birmingham, AL. Jan changed the name of her company to Strickland Interiors to incorporate her married name into the business.
Jan worked at a Décor Fabrics Store and a nationally recognized Fine Antiques Store in Montgomery, AL. She also served as the Meetings/Events Chair for ASID in the Montgomery, AL area.
Jan is a contributing writer for a design column in the Northeast Louisiana Home & Reconstruction Magazine. Her work has been featured on several Interior Design Websites and in Northeast Louisiana’s Bayou Life Magazine.
Jan, her husband Josh, son Jey, and daughter Evy reside in Rayville, LA where Jan works full time at Strickland Interiors. Her work has included a Bare Minerals Makeup Salon, selecting exterior paint colors for two Condo Buildings along the Gulf Coast of Alabama, Office Lobbies, several large Single Family Residences, Holiday Decorating, and Events large and small from Weddings, Showers, Birthday Parties, etc. If you have a space that needs to be designed or an upcoming event, let Jan take care of it for you!
